Artist
Shayna Yates was born in August of 1982 in San Diego and
grew up wanting to be an entomologist. In her early teens
however, she started producing artistic work, limited by
her religious schoolís art program. She later switched to
a public high school with a creative and performing arts
program and in eleventh grade participated in the advanced
placement program for visual arts. Continuing education
thus far has taken place at San Diego City College where
Ms. Yates earned an associates degree in fine arts. She
has had art displayed in college art shows, Del Mar Fair
art shows, various group shows, a solo show at Magpie, and
has sold privately commissioned paintings. She is currently
working at painting as well as designing and creating hats
and handbags, and attempting to finish a comic book in between
times.
